This book is a thrilling page-turner. I highly recommend it to readers. I rated it four stars instead of five because of (1) several typos, and (2) unnecessary, frequent use of passive voice.

I enjoy the author’s stories and characters, however the amount of errors, typos and grammar in all of her books keep me from buying more in any of the series. It’s a shame, really, but I can’t see spending money of shoddy work. With as many books and she has and as much as she charges, she’d be a lot more successful if she hired an editor.

I became hooked on the Riley Paige series. This 1st book was free and thought I might enjoy it too. It didn’t catch me like the Riley series. I became distracted from the story because of all the type errors. The story ling was good but it didn’t grip me. I have a had time putting other books down. I want to keep reading. This book didn’t do that for me. I am going to buy the 2nd book in the series and hope it will be better, if it isn’t then I won’t waste my money.

A very good read. Avery Black is the only female detective in an all male department. She struggles for acceptance and to overcome past demons. Perusing a serial killer, she find herself having to visit a killer from her past to help put the present back together.

Too bad

Fast read, but characters and plot seemed contrived. Book was riddled with editing errors that should have been caught prior to publishing. The details related to the Boston area surroundings were poignantly real. Those parts were spot on. I was just expecting more than a mix between a Harlequin romance and Silence of the Lambs. Those aspects might be very satisfying for some readers though. I hope this author finds a following. Every author deserves one.

Predictable

No surprises here. Many mistakes that catch the readers attention and make it hard to become involved in the story. My favorite was the policeman that was shot by shotgun shells that went through his neck and face. Does author even know what a shotgun shell is? The characterization was poorly developed and shallow and per the author everybody yelled and screamed. No calmer heads in this amateur hour. It would be nice if the author actually developed some psychological profiles and valid theory if writing a psychological suspense about a serial killer. I gave an extra star for the fun of hunting the mistakes.

This is one of the best books I have read in quite awhile. Blake Pierce has a way of connecting you with the plot and the characters from page one. If you are a fan of serial killers, police thrillers, suspense and plots that are nail biting page turners this is for you. Avery Black was a highly paid well respected defense attorney in Boston until the man she kept out of prison for murder, did just that as soon as he was let go he killed a college girl and disgraced the law firm, the city, Avery and everyone who knew her. It ended her marriage. She started drinking. When her pity party was over she decided to be a cop and catch the bad guys. But it's hard to be a woman in a mans world after all of her screw ups. She made detective but doesn't play well with others and no one wants to partner with her. She gets a case that is going to either make or break her career and her life. She has to use her mind and the convict she put in prison to figure out who is killing the sorority girls in Boston. Fast paced action. She is tough with a mind of her own and it will either make her a hero or get her killed.

I became hooked on the Riley Paige series. This 1st book was free and thought I might enjoy it too. It didn’t catch me like the Riley series. I became distracted from the story because of all the type errors. The story ling was good but it didn’t grip me. I have a had time putting other books down. I want to keep reading. This book didn’t do that for me. I am going to buy the 2nd book in the series and hope it will be better, if it isn’t then I won’t waste my money.

A very good read. Avery Black is the only female detective in an all male department. She struggles for acceptance and to overcome past demons. Perusing a serial killer, she find herself having to visit a killer from her past to help put the present back together.

Fast read, but characters and plot seemed contrived. Book was riddled with editing errors that should have been caught prior to publishing. The details related to the Boston area surroundings were poignantly real. Those parts were spot on. I was just expecting more than a mix between a Harlequin romance and Silence of the Lambs. Those aspects might be very satisfying for some readers though. I hope this author finds a following. Every author deserves one.

No surprises here. Many mistakes that catch the readers attention and make it hard to become involved in the story. My favorite was the policeman that was shot by shotgun shells that went through his neck and face. Does author even know what a shotgun shell is? The characterization was poorly developed and shallow and per the author everybody yelled and screamed. No calmer heads in this amateur hour. It would be nice if the author actually developed some psychological profiles and valid theory if writing a psychological suspense about a serial killer. I gave an extra star for the fun of hunting the mistakes.

This is one of the best books I have read in quite awhile. Blake Pierce has a way of connecting you with the plot and the characters from page one. If you are a fan of serial killers, police thrillers, suspense and plots that are nail biting page turners this is for you. Avery Black was a highly paid well respected defense attorney in Boston until the man she kept out of prison for murder, did just that as soon as he was let go he killed a college girl and disgraced the law firm, the city, Avery and everyone who knew her. It ended her marriage. She started drinking. When her pity party was over she decided to be a cop and catch the bad guys. But it's hard to be a woman in a mans world after all of her screw ups. She made detective but doesn't play well with others and no one wants to partner with her. She gets a case that is going to either make or break her career and her life. She has to use her mind and the convict she put in prison to figure out who is killing the sorority girls in Boston. Fast paced action. She is tough with a mind of her own and it will either make her a hero or get her killed.

No surprises here. Many mistakes that catch the readers attention and make it hard to become involved in the story. My favorite was the policeman that was shot by shotgun shells that went through his neck and face. Does author even know what a shotgun shell is? The characterization was poorly developed and shallow and per the author everybody yelled and screamed. No calmer heads in this amateur hour. It would be nice if the author actually developed some psychological profiles and valid theory if writing a psychological suspense about a serial killer. I gave an extra star for the fun of hunting the mistakes.

This is one of the best books I have read in quite awhile. Blake Pierce has a way of connecting you with the plot and the characters from page one. If you are a fan of serial killers, police thrillers, suspense and plots that are nail biting page turners this is for you. Avery Black was a highly paid well respected defense attorney in Boston until the man she kept out of prison for murder, did just that as soon as he was let go he killed a college girl and disgraced the law firm, the city, Avery and everyone who knew her. It ended her marriage. She started drinking. When her pity party was over she decided to be a cop and catch the bad guys. But it's hard to be a woman in a mans world after all of her screw ups. She made detective but doesn't play well with others and no one wants to partner with her. She gets a case that is going to either make or break her career and her life. She has to use her mind and the convict she put in prison to figure out who is killing the sorority girls in Boston. Fast paced action. She is tough with a mind of her own and it will either make her a hero or get her killed.

I became hooked on the Riley Paige series. This 1st book was free and thought I might enjoy it too. It didn’t catch me like the Riley series. I became distracted from the story because of all the type errors. The story ling was good but it didn’t grip me. I have a had time putting other books down. I want to keep reading. This book didn’t do that for me. I am going to buy the 2nd book in the series and hope it will be better, if it isn’t then I won’t waste my money.

A very good read. Avery Black is the only female detective in an all male department. She struggles for acceptance and to overcome past demons. Perusing a serial killer, she find herself having to visit a killer from her past to help put the present back together.

Fast read, but characters and plot seemed contrived. Book was riddled with editing errors that should have been caught prior to publishing. The details related to the Boston area surroundings were poignantly real. Those parts were spot on. I was just expecting more than a mix between a Harlequin romance and Silence of the Lambs. Those aspects might be very satisfying for some readers though. I hope this author finds a following. Every author deserves one.

This book is a thrilling page-turner. I highly recommend it to readers. I rated it four stars instead of five because of (1) several typos, and (2) unnecessary, frequent use of passive voice.

I enjoy the author’s stories and characters, however the amount of errors, typos and grammar in all of her books keep me from buying more in any of the series. It’s a shame, really, but I can’t see spending money of shoddy work. With as many books and she has and as much as she charges, she’d be a lot more successful if she hired an editor.

A little disappointed

I became hooked on the Riley Paige series. This 1st book was free and thought I might enjoy it too. It didn’t catch me like the Riley series. I became distracted from the story because of all the type errors. The story ling was good but it didn’t grip me. I have a had time putting other books down. I want to keep reading. This book didn’t do that for me. I am going to buy the 2nd book in the series and hope it will be better, if it isn’t then I won’t waste my money.

A very good read. Avery Black is the only female detective in an all male department. She struggles for acceptance and to overcome past demons. Perusing a serial killer, she find herself having to visit a killer from her past to help put the present back together.

Too bad

Fast read, but characters and plot seemed contrived. Book was riddled with editing errors that should have been caught prior to publishing. The details related to the Boston area surroundings were poignantly real. Those parts were spot on. I was just expecting more than a mix between a Harlequin romance and Silence of the Lambs. Those aspects might be very satisfying for some readers though. I hope this author finds a following. Every author deserves one.

Predictable

No surprises here. Many mistakes that catch the readers attention and make it hard to become involved in the story. My favorite was the policeman that was shot by shotgun shells that went through his neck and face. Does author even know what a shotgun shell is? The characterization was poorly developed and shallow and per the author everybody yelled and screamed. No calmer heads in this amateur hour. It would be nice if the author actually developed some psychological profiles and valid theory if writing a psychological suspense about a serial killer. I gave an extra star for the fun of hunting the mistakes.

This is one of the best books I have read in quite awhile. Blake Pierce has a way of connecting you with the plot and the characters from page one. If you are a fan of serial killers, police thrillers, suspense and plots that are nail biting page turners this is for you. Avery Black was a highly paid well respected defense attorney in Boston until the man she kept out of prison for murder, did just that as soon as he was let go he killed a college girl and disgraced the law firm, the city, Avery and everyone who knew her. It ended her marriage. She started drinking. When her pity party was over she decided to be a cop and catch the bad guys. But it's hard to be a woman in a mans world after all of her screw ups. She made detective but doesn't play well with others and no one wants to partner with her. She gets a case that is going to either make or break her career and her life. She has to use her mind and the convict she put in prison to figure out who is killing the sorority girls in Boston. Fast paced action. She is tough with a mind of her own and it will either make her a hero or get her killed.
